Chakrata is a remote ancient cantonment town in the hills of uttaranchal 90 kms from dehradun at an altitude of 2118 mtrs.the place is unique and totally cut off from the maddening crowds of the cities.it is surrounded by many picturesque peaks valleys orchards springs and waterfalls.the place is green in summers and white in winters with very heavy snowfalls occuring.it is one of the best places to relax in the world...where yu can sense as well as smell the very slow pace with which life moves on.the place is very ideal for all sort of nature lovers and esp. for the couple that are honeymoonying!the place has got vast potentials for the develpoement as a tourist attraction but it has not been granted its due for many years now.the place has been treated with disdain by the govt. as there is hardly any developement done out here from the tourism point of view.if foreign tourits are not allowed then atleast some work should be done to attract tourists from all parts of india.but an inquisitive and enthusiastic nature lover cannot be deprived of the beauty it has to offer to the human eyes.but then it should be made accesible to all eyes of india.......the place is so beautiful that unless and untill yu have visited it yu cant have the feel of it....the people are very helping and innocent like all the pahadis.the place is a must go for alll the adventure lovers as well as there is vast scope for camping and trekking .the place can be visited all round the year except the rainy season when it is very foggy ..so lets pack our rucksacks and go to the place.

Air : Air :The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant in Dehradun, but it is preferable to use the roads or rail to Delhi and then take flights to the destination of ones choice.
Rail: Nearest railway station is dehradun railway station.
