ABOUT RANIKHET
Ranikhet, a small hillstation near Nainital, is known for its pristine
beauty. The hillstation has been a tourists haunt for those who wants to
spend a vacation in lap of nature, far from the crowd of cities. The British
troops selected it as there cantonment, and became a summer resort of the
British officers. Ranikhet has a 9 hole Golf course, set amidst high
mountains and fruit orchards. It is India's one of the best golf course.
Ranikhet is the apex of a triangle which includes Nainital and Almora,
driving along gentle slopes and pine covered hillsides, leading to picnic
spots in shady glens or to sheer cliffs with breath taking views of the snow
covered Himalayas, offering various moods and colours, from the misty
morning sun to pink, gold and cobalt blue in all their majestic glory. The
unparalled view from Bazaar, one Kilometer long, is absolutely nostalgic.

Hairakhan Ashram : Hairakhan Ashram is the famous temple of Baba
Hairkhan. It commands a panoramic view of the extensive Himalayas. The
ambience is definitely religious.
Baludham : This small artificial lake is little less than 3 kms from
Chaubattia.
Upat Kalika : Upat Kalika has one of the best mountain golf courses
in the country.
Chaubattia : Chaubattia Kms is a garden spot commanding a
fascinating view of the Himalayas. The chief attractions of the place is the
Government Apple Garden and the Fruit Research Center attached to it.
EXCURSIONS FROM RANIKHET
Jhoola Devi Ram Mandir : 7kms. from Ranikhet on the way to
Chaubatia, known for its temples devoted to the Goddess Durga and Lord Rama.
Naithna Devi : 35kms., from Chaukhatia, 34kms. from Bhitiasan and
54kms. from Ranikhrt the famous temple of Durga is situated at a 4km. walk
from Dola village.
Mankameshwar : This temple is attached to the Nar Singh Maidan (
Ground), constructed by the Kumaon regiment. Opposite the temple is a
Gurudwara and a Shawl factory.
Binsar Mahadev : 19kms., from Ranikhet, on the way to Ramnagar and
2kms from Sonidant, amidst dense Pine and Deodar forests. The shiva Temples
of Binsar Mahadev are a unique place for meditation and picnics.
Hairakhan Temple (Chilianaula) : 4kms., from Ranikhet is famous for
the temple of Baba Haira Khan. It commands a panoramic view of the
Himalayas.
Tarikhet :8kms. from Ranikhet is a well known for its Gandhi Kuti,
and the temple of Golu Devta is venerated in the Kumaon region.
Nainital(60Km.) : A small town in the hills of Kumaon, Nainital is a
lovely hill station surrounded by mountains on three sides. Once this area
had many lakes and it was called the City of 60 lakes or 'Chakta'.
Bhim TalBhimtal, :Bhim TalBhimtal, situated at a distance of 22kms
from Nainital, is named after one of the Pandav brothers called Bhim
Naukuchia Tal : Situated at an altitude of 1,219 m, Naukuchiatal is
picturesque lake. It has nine corners and hence the name. 26 km away from
Nainital, Naukuchiatal attracts migratory birds, which makes it a ,bird
watchers paradise
FAIS AND FESTIVALS IN RANIKHET
Dwarahat : 37kms. from Ranikhet, the once principal seat of the
Katyuri Rajas is Dwarahat. A part from temples it is full of ancient
sculptures. It is also known for its Syaldeh Bikhoti fair ( 13th to 15th
April every year).
Bhikiasain : 55kms., from Ranikhet is famous for its Maha Savitri
fair.
